Jari Ketomaa, age of 28, speedy rally history began on karting at age of seven. After few years of circuling a race track he found rallying more interesting. At age of 16 Ketomaa started his rally career with Ford Escort RS 2000 in rally sprint junior class. After one year of rally sprint Jari purchased VW Golf Mark 1 which he rallyed his first real rally at age of 18 in year 1997. Before entering to his first rally Jari had rallyed 50 junior rally sprint events with 43 wins!
After few years of junior rally events Ketomaa gained the top level in national rally sport. To evolve his rally career it was time to participate to national junior rally series with VW 19 Golf GTi. Championship was hard to gain due technical difficulties which spoiled the whole season 1999.
For season 2000 Ketomaa purchased group-N Subaru Impreza from Prodrive and Ossi Lehtonen joined co-driver seat. Due lack of Subaru technical experience in Finland, it was hard to develope Impreza. However when the rally car worked without any technical problems Ketomaa rallyed in top level. For example in international Tallinn rally at Estonia, Jari Ketomaa won group-N being third in overall classifications.
The winter rally events in seasons 2001 and 2002 Jari started with good results. However retirements caused by continuous technical difficulties and retirements due crashes out of the road spoiled the seasons. In winter 2002 Jari Ketomaa rallyed his first special stage win in overall classifications of Finnish national rally series. Ketomaa participated to his first international event in Swedish world rally championship finishing 10th place in group-N.
Well started season 2002 ended before reaching even to it's half. In test special stage rallying with fifth gear and speed of approx 160 km/h Ketomaa crashed due technical reason. Heavy crash damaged the car badly and therefore rest of the season was excluded. Luckily crew was ok. In Neste Rally Finland 2002 Ketomaa gained experiences with rental car. Once again Jari retired due many flat tyre problems.
Ketomaa started season 2003 well-prepared. Crashed Subaru Impreza was rebuild and ready to rally in second event of Finnish national rally championship series. Semi-professional co-driver Tuomo Hannonen joined Jari Ketomaa rally team. After half year of intense car re-building and testing the season started with 4th place in group-N. Third Finnish national rally championship event started event better, but transmission problems forced Ketomaa to retire from 2nd place in 3rd special stage.
Fourth and first gravel event Ketomaa started with rental car. He finished with 5th place in group-N. Jari finished fifth event with same place in overall this time with his own rally car. Sixth event was rallyed in Uusikaupunki. This time Ketomaa retired with transmission failures from 2nd stage.
Jackpot!
Season 2003 finale was rallyed in two day event at Hyvinkää. First leg was promising with group-N 2nd place. Second leg ended with first group-N victory which gave well-deserved confidence and publicity to Ketomaa. Victory gave also better circumstances for opening rounds in season 2004.
It was time to rally for Championship, but changing a Impreza into WRX STi was not easy equation in tight battle in Finnish Rally Championship. Once again Ketomaa was 4th in overall classifications. However the package for season 2005 was better than ever!

The goals for season 2005 was only head for podium. From the first stage on Ketomaa rallyed with top results. In the first leg at Arctic Lapland rally Ketomaa rallyed a little bit too fast and slipped out of the road. On 2nd leg he improved his situation by winning the day and
2nd event in Mikkeli was Jaris' home rally. The expectations were high, but Ketomaa had to retire due technical difficulties just when the battle for victory was intense. In 3rd event at Laukaa Ketomaa was 2nd.
Summer events were very tight in group-N. In final event in Valvoline rally at Hyvinkää, four competitors had changes to win the title - Ketomaa included. He was about to win it, but the technical difficulties in 2nd leg forced Ketomaa to retire and dropping into bronze medal.
Jari finished his season in rally of Saarenmaa at Estonia. The conditions were very slippery and muddy. Once again Ketomaa lead the rally and was forced to retire due engine problems in 2nd leg. It was time to end the misfortunate career behind Subaru steering wheel and head to season 2006 with Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution rally car.

A chanceof a rally car brought Finnish Rally Championship!
In season 2006 Ketomaa made a bold decicion to chance his rally car into Mitsubishi. Jari with his team had developed their Subaru Impreza WRX STi Spec-C into a point where it could not be developed no more. Therefore he seeked more speed by changing his car into Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. First three events for season 2006 Ketomaa rallyed with rental Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII MR rally car. In all events Ketomaa scored podium. In final event of the winter season Ketomaa gained victory in his home event - SM Vaakuna rally.
For gravel season he had prepared his own Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX rally car. Also in final four events of the season Ketomaa rallyed in very successful way. He scored two victories, one second and one third position. After final round of the season Jari and his co-driver Tuomo Hannonen were announced as Finnish Rally Champions in group-N.
In season 2006 Jari also rallyed his first ever abroad event. He packed his bags and travelled into China to compete in final round of Chinese rally Championship serie. However the rally was bad in technical ways, which spoiled his event.
However the retirement had no effect for Finnish Rally Champion. In season 2007 Ketomaa heads for Finnish Rally Championship aswell as international events.

On second Mitsubishi season Ketomaa proved that his first Finnish Rally Championship was not gained with luck. During the season Ketomaa rallied eight wins in 13 events. He retired in four events due technical difficulties and was second in one event.
After dramatical and very intense season Jari Ketomaa was crowned into double Finnish Rally Champion. At the end of the season Ketomaa had and offer to expand his rally program into PWRC on season 2008. And he took it!
