30.3.2008 - Jari Ketomaa have a reason for joy in WRC Argentina - 3rd position in group-N put Ketomaa into lead of PWRC
3rd and final rally day of WRC Argentina offered lots of surprises - even for top drivers as they tackled in slippery mud conditions. However Finn Jari Ketomaa drove final three stages without problems and gained 3rd position in group-N. He finished the rally into 10th position in overall classifications.
- Podium finish feels very good after steering problems we faced in first rally day. Before the rally I thought that if everything goes as planned I might have small chances to reach podium. After technical difficulties I lost positions for podium finish but trouble-free second rally day lift us back up in results, told Ketomaa.
Jari Ketomaa and his co-driver Miika Teiskonen rallied with Italian Motoring Club group-N Subaru Impreza WRX STi. Finns took third position in group-N after his fellow competitor faced engine problems.
- Final three special stages were again in very slippery conditions. This was the most demanding rally of my career as the vicibility was approx 20 metres due heavy rain, Ketomaa continued.
- It wasn't easy at all as we had to rally with dry conditions tyre due new regulations. The grip the tyre provided us was not in any level at all, Ketomaa told.
Winner of group-N in WRC Argentina was austrian Andreas Aigner. Second was argentine Sebastian Beltran. Japanise Fumio Nutahara finished into fourth position. The difference between top four drivers were approx. a minute.
Third position offered six highly valuable Championship points for Ketomaa as he took leadership of PWRC after two rounds.
In overall Championship standings Jari Ketomaa has 14 points as his fellow countryman Juho Hanninen has 10 points aswell as austrian Andreas Aigner. Next round for PWRC is to be rallied in first weekend of June at Greece.
